Group Report - Games

Our group’s topic of blog and video is about game, especially video games and computer games. Also known as computer games are video games played on a general-purpose personal computer rather than a dedicated video game console or arcade machine. Their defining characteristics include a lack of any centralised controlling authority and greater capacity in input, processing, and output. Computer game already be a very well-know word in the modem young people. From the classically basic game minesweeper, spider solitaire and hearts to any huge game, many new games released in every year. Computer game have become an industry. Computer game industry pull in $74.4 billion by the end of 2011 up 10.4 percent from the $67 billion spent 2010. The reason why we have chosen this topic, it is because the members in our group like playing game in leisure time and computer game have become the topic in daily conversation.

 

The largest challenge is how to select appropriate information put on the blog. Because to make a great blog, we should be stay on topic and update frequently. The article is the subject of the eye in order to post eye-catching, we must first have a good and interesting topic, then people will desire to drill a look and explore the good topics for you on the success of the half. People will keep browsing when the information on the blog is appealing, therefore choose what information on blog is a largest challenges.

The final design that we used for the game banner that relate to the topic. Also the background we choose to use black because black can pass the messages mystery and discover to the viewer and audience. For each post, we used normal font size and ‘Times’ as font family. Although, we get rough a bit at end of due date, because this summer course is a short period. But, we are putting a lot of energy to make our baby blog as good as possible. There also have some YouTube links we want to share to the viewer.

Compare to other users’ blog. We found out their blog and our blog have similar content and messages that need to pass to the viewer which is share the interest with everybody. However we still had used some Wikipedia or Google engine to ‘borrow’ some information. Because we don’t really comprehend with the histories of the games when we are play the games.

In conclusion, games are like puzzles, we need to match the correct piece to the user and lead them to enjoy the process of the game. Also we had a lot of fun within this ISYS100 as our one subject of summer course. Although the time period is short but we still enjoined it very much. Hope we will receive a nice mark and to welcome our summer holiday.

Three Kingdoms Kill - Wenjin XU

Three Kingdoms Kill is a Chinese card game based on the Three Kingdoms period of China and the semi-fictional novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The rules of this game are similar to the rules of the Italian card game Bang!.It  is released by YOKA games on January 1, 2008, and till date has spun-off a total of seven official expansion sets, an online version Three Kingdoms Kill Online, as well as a children's version Three Kingdoms Kill Q Version. It initially began with a strong following in China only because the entire game is in Chinese.  However the game has begun to reach an international audience after players began translating the game into the English language and posting these translations on blogs and forums.

Counter-Strike (CS)

Counter-Strike (CS) is very famous and popular shooting games 5 years ago. Did you play it?!

CS is a teamwork game. It has many competitions around the world. You can find it and play it in every internet bar.

CS is a tactical first-person shooter video game.The game has been expanded into a series since its original release, which currently includes Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, Counter-Strike: Source, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. 

CS pits a team of terrorists against a team of counter-terrorists in a series of rounds. Each round is won by either completing the mission objective or eliminating the opposing force.

Before game match begin, you can buy different catelogues weapens. After the start of the game, players usually use the team strategy to destroy the enemy.

Plants vs. Zombies

This game swept the world a few years ago, like as the angrybird. In this game, have two roles player can choose, plant and zombies. If you are plants, you must portect owns plants, cannot let zombies eat them. If you are zombies, you must eaten all plants.

Plants vs. Zombies is a tower defense action video game developed and originally published by PopCap Games for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. The game involves a homeowner using many varieties of plants to repel an army of zombies from "eating their brains". Furthermore, both the original Windows and Mac version of the game have been re-released with additional content in a Game of the Year version. The game received a positive response from critics, and was nominated for multiple Interactive Achievement Awards, alongside receiving praise for its musical score.

Plants vs. Zombies is a very funny games, good for kill time. You can play on your mobile phone, computer, table computer.

Online Games - Wenjin XU

Online Game

An online game is a video game played over some form of computer network, using a personal computer or video game console. This network is usually the internet or equivalent technology, but games have always used whatever technology was current: modems before the Internet, and hard wired terminals before modems. Online games can range from simple text based environments to games incorporating complex graphics and virtual worlds populated by many players simultaneously. Many online games have associated online communities, making online games a form of social activity beyond single player games. A second advantage of online games is that a great percentage of games don’t require payment. Also third that is worth noting is the availability of wide variety of games for all type of game players.

Here are the elite games from the MMORPG, Online RPG, Online Strategy, and Online Shooter genres. This feature is made by our staff while the Top 10 Online Games are voted on by player.

1) World of Warcraft

The best online game today that you have to pay for with over 10 million subscribers. The entire MMO industry has reach huge heights of popularity thanks in large part to World of Warcraft.

2) Counter-Strike

 

Better graphics and technology continue to drive the popularity of this vaunted first person shooter. Tops the original CS in nearly every way except Steam. Although it started out as a mod to Half-Life, Counter-Strike has developed into one of the greatest Internet games ever. 

3) Guild Wars

Simply the best Free MMORPG today. Not quite as good as World of WarCraft game-play wise, but Guild Wars' lack of a subscription put its over the top in this category. 

4) Team Fortress 2

Innovated the shooter genre with cartoonish graphics and outrageous characters. Best of all, online game play is free.

5) RuneScape

RuneScape is proof that graphics are not required to be popular. RS has been drawing in players for years with simple graphics as it continues to be a leader among free MMORPGs. 

6) Second Life

Love it or hate it, there is no denying the overall impact that Second Life has had on media, business, and even culture. SL has made people millionaires and has appeared on various TV shows such as The Office. 

7) StarCraft

Ever wonder where the term "Zerg" comes from? StarCraft started that term has been extremely popular ever since. The sequel will probably be even more popular when it is finally launched.  

8) Neverwinter Nights

You don't even have to like the original campaigns to enjoy countless hours of gaming bliss with NWN. Internet players are driving the value of this top RPG by making thousands of different modules for everybody to play. NWN also redefines the Online RPG genre by opening up the possibility of player-made MMORPGs.

9) Diablo 2

Although this game looks ancient compared to some of its recent counterparts, the Diablo 2 community is still alive and well on Battle.net.

10) Age of Conan

Although not for everybody due to its content and high system requirements, Age of Conan may end up being the biggest new MMORPG since World of Warcraft. AoC's combat system and mature themes could innovate the industry for years to come.

Blizzard Entertainment

I think if you are computer games player, you should played the game from Blizzard. It has many famous games. For example, Warcraft, Diablo and Starcraft. Starcraft is very famous in game circle, this game focus on strategy, that is a great game.

Our group topic - Game

Our group’s topic of blog and video is try to about GAME！！ Especiallycomputer games and video games. Also known as computer games are video games played on a general purpose personal computer rather than a dedicated video game console or arcade machine. Their defining characteristics include a lack of any centralised controlling authority and greater capacity in input, processing, and output.

PC games reached widespread popularity following the video game crash of 1983, particularly in Europe, leading to the era of the "bedroom coder". From the mid-90s onward they lost mass-market traction to console games before enjoying resurgence in the mid-2000s through digital distribution.

The openness of the PC platform allows players to edit their games and distribute the results over the internet as "mods". A healthy mod community greatly increases a game's longevity and the most popular mods have driven purchases of their parent game to record heights. It is common for professional developers to release the tools they use to create their games in order to encourage modding, but if a game is popular enough mods generally arise even without official support.

Mods can compete with official downloadable content however, or even outright redistribute it, and their ability to extend the lifespan of a game can work against its developers' plans for regular sequels. As game technology has become more complex, it has also become harder to distribute development tools to the public. 

Nowdays, computer games is not only one person player, also,  they are developing as it can be play with mates or share ideas with friends. In the second point,  computer games are creative, people need to use knowledges and create or design maps or weapons to let player to use.

In the future, our group will post different types of PC games and share the interests with you!!

The SIMS AND Need for speed - EA

Electronic Arts, Inc. (EA) is an American developer, marketer, publisher and distributor of video games. EA company issue many famous games. for example The Sims, Need for Speed, Medal of Honor etc.

Need for speed is my favorivate game in EA games. The game has a great quality, great music in it.

 

The Legend of Kage

The Legend of Kage is a 1985 arcade game by Taito and was released for several contemporary home computer systems in 1986.

Background Story

The player takes role of the young Iga ninja named Kage on the mission to rescue Princess Kiri from the villains Yoshi (Yoshiro Yukikusa) and Yuki. Kage must fight his way through the forest, along the secret passageway, up the fortress wall and through the castle, rescuing her two times (three in the NES version) in order to win the game. Each time the princess is rescued, the seasons change in the game.

The player is armed with a kodachi shortsword and an unlimited amount of shuriken. Grabbing a crystal ball causes Kage's clothes to change to the next level in colour and thereby attain certain powers bigger shuriken and faster speed; if Kage is hit while in green or orange clothes, he does not die but revert to his normal red clothes. Grabbing a scroll causes Kage to stand still and meditate for several seconds while approaching enemies drop to the ground dead.

Boy's favourite - Need for Speed

Need For Speed (NFS) is a racing games produced by Electronic Arts(EA), and several styudios which EA BLACK BOX  and Criterion Games.

NFS is most successful racing games in the world. In each game, the player controls a race car in a variety of races, the goal being to win the race. In the tournament mode, the player must win a series of races in order to unlock vehicles, tracks, etc. Before playing each race, the player chooses a vehicle to race in and has the option of choosing the transimission of the vehicle, which includes automatic and manual transmission. All games in the series have some form of multiplayer  mode allowing players to race one another via  split screen, LAN or the Internet.

When I was 12 years old, NFS is my best friend in my summer holiday.  And, if i done the enought amout of tutorials, my parents would allowed me turned on my computer and play one hour of this game. But I always play it when they go out..what a naughty girl!!!

Computer game is very interesting, and bring my life more colourful.

Tetris

Tetris is a tile matching puzzle game originally programmed by Alexey Pajitnov in the Soviet Union. This game is available different versions. Tetris were sold for a range of 1980s home computer platforms as well as the arcades, it was the hugely successful handheld version for the Game Boy launched in 1989 that established the game as one of the most popular ever. Electronic Gaming Monthly's 100th issue had Tetris in first place as "Greatest Game of All Time". In 2007, Tetris came in second place in IGN's "100 Greatest Video Games of All Time". It has sold more than 70 million copies. In January 2010, it was announced that Tetris has sold more than 100 million copies for cell phones alone since 2005.

I usually play with my classmate when I was young, the advantage of this game is no cost at all and can pause at any time. Although the game is simple, but we had a lot of  fun, any games console have this game, very suitable for killing time.

Command&Conquer: Red Alert

This game is produced by Westwood Studio and released by virgin Interactive in 1996.

Initially, this game was only availale for PC or Windows 95 versions, it was subsequently ported to Play Station. The Play Station version was also can used for PSP and PS3.  Poor english, quite hard for me to explain it..

Set a group used Ctrl + 0-9  selected from current units, creat a  zero to nine division group.   Shift+0-9 you can choose members

The game balance between the forces of the Alliedand Soviet armies differed from other games at its time. Unlike the 'rock paper scissors'balancing of modern games, Red Alert required each player to use their side's strengths in order to compensate for their weaknesses. This stood in contrast to games such as Total Annihilation  or Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness , in which both sides had units with similar abilities and relied instead on outnumbering or possessing a better balanced force than their opponent.

Super Mario - First game in our life

Super Mario is a most popular video game developed by Nintendo in 1985, I think everyone will  know this game, because at past few decade, we don't have much game to play with. Am I right? After technology developed, Super Mario got a PC version which is similar to video game. Super Mario as one friend in our life, but it is exist in computer and my happy memory.
